De Burman

Details

Century: Baron Gaspar de Burman, a Dutchman by birth, purchased the Château de Mathod in 1765 from the descendants of the de Diesbachs. Leaving the splendor of Versailles behind, he and his young wife settled at the Château de Mathod, which he extensively remodeled to create an elegant and luxurious residence. His baronial crown proudly adorns the clock on the pediment of the château.
This beautiful 31m² room is very spacious and equipped with a 180x200cm bed. It is tastefully decorated and reminiscent of the 18th century with its Louis XV style. The bathroom is equipped with a large shower and a separate toilet. It can be rented together with the adjoining 25m² living room with kitchenette to form the Baron de Burman Suite. The view overlooks the main courtyard and the elegant Dutch-style façade of the château. This room also features a walk-in closet with a large mirror, a safe, a minibar, a coffee maker, and an electric kettle. This room can be connected to its neighbor, the de Diesbach Room, via a secret passage.

De Diesbach

Details

De Diesbach Room, 17th Century
The De Diesbach Room is inspired by the time when Vaud was ruled by the Bernese. As the pleasure residence of the Bernese bailiff Imbert de Diesbach and his descendants from 1607 to 1765, Mathod Castle still preserves the tomb of Amelie Elisabeth de Diesbach in the estate's chapel.
This beautiful, 32m², very comfortable, and elegantly furnished room evokes the 17th century with its two post-Renaissance armchairs and two 90x200cm beds that can be separated. It features a large bathroom with a comfortable bathtub and shower, as well as a separate toilet. The view overlooks the main courtyard and the beautiful facade of the castle.
This room can be connected to its neighbor, the de Burman Room, via a secret passage.

Robert

Details

Robert Room, 19th Century
The Robert family purchased the Château de Mathod in 1848. Brothers André and Léon Robert, from La Chaux-de-Fonds, retired from their watchmaking business in Marseille. André, ancestor of the current owner, was married to Virginia, while Léon remained single. They spent the rest of their lives developing the agricultural and wine-growing estate. The English-style garden still contains the tombs of these astute owners.
The 22m² Robert Room is equipped with a very comfortable 180x200cm bed, as well as small armchairs and a raspberry-pink Victorian sofa, a nod to the place where Virginia was born and raised, in Liverpool during the reign of Queen Victoria. The colorful bathroom features a very spacious shower, two black stone sinks, and a toilet. This room also has a mini-dressing room with a large mirror, a safe, a minibar, a coffee machine and a kettle.
