Tour of the Porrentruy watchmaking route

Guided tours

Description

In the watchmakers’ footsteps

Discover the rich past of the watchmaking industry in Porrentruy on a route that reveals the history of the measurement of time with the Meridian in the cantonal high school (Méridienne du Lycée cantonal), the sun dials in the botanical gardens and the Foucault pendulum. At the Musée de l’Hôtel-Dieu you’ll discover a fine gemstone workshop along with a collection of pocket watches and tools from the farmer-watchmakers at the Watchmaking Foundation. Our guide will demonstrate that watchmaking history has made its mark on Porrentruy.
